MANAGEMENT OF RHYTHM DISORDERS > EP STUDY & RF ABLATION
EP
Study & RF Ablation The heart has an intrinsic network of fibers generating and transmitting impulse’s that control our heart rate. Some times a malfunctioning in this delicate electrical circuit can produce horrifying abnormalities in heart rates perceived by the patients as palpitations. This can happen in any age group, a child, an adult, and sometimes even in a fetus. Till recently these patients were managed by large doses of drugs which had inherent side effects. Now we have the capacity to locate the exact focus of abnormal impulse generation by Electrophysiological study and minute burst or radio frequency at that spot generates just enough heat to permanently abolish the focus. Majority of these patients do not require any drugs after this and above all they quality of life is also improved. |

DEFIBRILLATORS
|
Implantable
Cordioverter/Defibrillators: Taking the pace makers one step further are Implantable Defibrillators, which we use to manage people with life threatening arrythymias.( rapid heart rates that cannot be ablated electrophysiologically like V-Tach or V-Fib) These patients are highly prone to sudden death because their circulation throttled by this abnormal rhythm. Conventionally if they were able to make it to a hospital, they would be treated with uncomfortably high dose of electrical current over the chest to abort the event. However these smart defibrillators when in-situ, recognize the onset of such abnormal heart rates and spontaneously generate just enough electrical energy internally to abort the arrythymia as the individual goes about his normal activity. |
